FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Whitewater Theater Plans Big Splash with Performance by Country Star Collin Raye

Raye to perform as part of Music in the Mountains, a weekend of live music on the site of Idaho’s newest major concert venue, the Whitewater Theater at Southfork Landing

Country music star Collin Raye will headline the 4th Annual Music in the Mountains festival August 1st and 2nd at the site of the Whitewater Theater, a new 4,000-seat amphitheater slated for the planned community of Southfork Landing in Garden Valley. Nine other regional rock, bluegrass, and folk bands will also perform during the weekend-long event.

Just 45 minutes north of Boise, Idaho, the Whitewater Theater at Southfork Landing will be a truly one-of-a-kind entertainment venue with dramatic views of the South Fork of the Payette River and the surrounding mountains. The theater was designed from the ground up to take advantage of the area’s unique natural beauty while still providing a very modern and comfortable venue for concerts, corporate events, and more.

“This year’s unbelievable line-up and spectacular venue is sure to make this the best Music in the Mountains yet,” said Wes Nelson, Marketing Manager for Southfork Landing, the festival’s host. “With the beautiful backdrop of the majestic Idaho mountains and the stunning river views, no other venue in Southwest Idaho comes close to delivering this type of entertainment experience.”

The Whitewater Theater is located within Southfork Landing, a conservation-oriented Outdoor Adventure Community in Garden Valley. With nearly four miles of protected river frontage forming its northern border and more than 511 acres of dedicated open space, the community provides unlimited opportunities for outdoor recreation, including fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Music in the Mountains will feature two full days of live performances. Collin Raye, whose thirty chart-making singles—including four number one hits—cemented his country star status, will perform Saturday night. Dick Polley, Blaze N Kelly, The FAV, Lo Fi, and Andy Byron will perform earlier in the day.

Sunday is family day, with performances by Dick Polley, David Mac Neil Band, Mel Wade, and High Desert Band as well as arts & crafts activities. A variety of food and beverage vendors will be on-site both days. The event benefits for the Garden Valley Recreation District’s efforts to create a new community park and natural wetland habitat for local wildlife.

The PlumpJack Group!

Southfork Landing announces plans to build a boutique resort hotel, spa and conference center with The PlumpJack Group.

GARDEN VALLEY, ID. — Southfork Landing, southwest Idaho’s unique, conservation-oriented, outdoor adventure residential community is making an important announcement as development plans continue to unfold and move ahead. “We’re excited about the progress of our spectacular river front development along the South Fork of the Payette River,” said C. Lloyd Mahaffey, a Principal on the development team. “We’re pleased to announce that we’ve finalized a relationship with The PlumpJack Group (www.plumpjack.com) to create an 80 cottage luxury inn, spa, and conference center within 50 minutes of Boise.

PlumpJack Group Selected to Develop Luxury Inn and Spa

One of the highlights of Southfork Landing’s master plan is a luxury resort with an array of amenities including 80 luxury condominium units, restaurant, conference facility, fitness center, spa, and retail space. An agreement has been signed with The PlumpJack Group in San Francisco, California to collaborate on development and operation of the Inn. The PlumpJack Group, founded in 1992, is renowned for luxury resorts (PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn, Tahoe, and The Carneros Inn in Napa Valley, world class wineries (PlumpJack Winery in Oakville and Cade on Howell Mountain), wine stores in San Francisco, as well as restaurant development and management (Jack Falstaff and PlumpJack Cafe in San Francisco and Balboa Cafe in San Francisco and Mill Valley). The design and construction of the hotel will be modeled after The Carneros Inn in Napa Valley and the historic Charters Mansion on the promontory at Southfork will house the welcome center, lobby and concierge. It is expected to take approximately 22 months to complete and the Grand Opening is scheduled for the Spring of 2011. “PlumpJack is thrilled to be working with the entire Southfork Landing development team.  We both share an enthusiasm for sense of place and are extremely community minded and committed to conservation.  This is and will be an exciting project for all”, said Hilary Newsom, CEO of the PlumpJack Group.

This exciting development with PlumpJack and the opening of a tremendous new amenity marks a dramatic expansion for Garden Valley as an outdoor resort destination. No matter the season, Southfork Landing, with its pristine waters, conservation oriented open spaces, protected river frontage and “green” architecture, offers something for every outdoor enthusiast looking to enjoy Authentic Idaho. From world-class nordic skiing and snow-tubing, to fly fishing in our private lakes and streams, unparalleled kayaking and whitewater rafting in our white water park and the river, to the hundreds of miles of adjacent wilderness trails for snowmobiling, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, Southfork Landing (www.southforklanding.com) in Garden Valley, Idaho, is an outdoor adventure lover’s ideal base camp.

Nature provides food for the soul in Garden Valley, Idaho!

I just arrived at Southfork Landing and was greeted by many of the new residents. As I entered the property I was happy to see Mr. & Mrs. Canada Goose, quietly swimming with their new brood of 12 chicks in the placid waters of one of our ponds. Reflected in this liquefied mirror, was the mountains and ghost like images of a herd of fifteen cow elk quietly attending to their calves, who hopped and skipped in the meadow, exuberantly testing new legs with obvious enthusiasm for life. The wild flowers are just beginning to peak out and I observed a coyote hopping along a creek, consumed by the task of breakfast and focused on a muskrat navigating a tumbling brook anxiously looking for an escape. Beyond this scene, I was captivated by the beauty of spring showers rolling over the west end of the valley, bathed in intermittent sunlight that highlighted cumulus buildup. The beauty of the scene compelled me to take a walk along the river, slowly clearing, as high country runoff diminishes with summer around the corner. I was transformed by the different songs sung by a plethora of birds that seemed to orchestrate their serenade in concert with the cascading water seemingly impatient to find its way to the pacific ocean. As I took all of this in, I thanked my lucky stars for the beauty of it all, anxious to share its magic with residents of a more human nature.
